Artist’s Note: Over the past two years I've been making plein-air paintings of Lake Michigan from the beach and overlook near my home in Rogers Park. The paintings are made with oil paint on oil-ground-primed wood, which provides a delicate and sensitive surface and translates the immediacy of mark-making in response to the living environment of the water and sky. There are currently 65 works in the series and I'm planning to make 100 by the end of the summer.
