The Residency Project, 880 Worcester Avenue, Pasadena, California, 91104

30” x 60” x 74”

LED nightlights, power strips, carbon steel

$2,500

Artist’s Note: The Light at the End (and Throughout) is an interactive outdoor light installation composed of 80 mini LED nightlights. The lights automatically turn on after dark and are further activated by audience interaction. Serving as a beacon of hope and neighborly good will, "The Light at the End (and Throughout)" is minimal, poetic, and thought-provoking, as well as it is simple, playful, and a site for communal joy. While most minimalist light installations emphasize the austerity of museums or large public plazas, this light sculpture responds to the unique parameters of the residential space and provides a moment for intimate interaction that takes us out of our comfort zone in an otherwise familiar space—our neighborhood. While it may feel weird to approach a stranger's house, especially at night, the artist welcomes you to step up onto the porch to interact with the sculpture. Please do not touch it, but feel free to walk through and around the sculpture to see how the piece responds to your presence.
