Curator’s Note: I live in the Ukrainian Village here in Chicago. As of August 15th this is day 172 of the war. I have invited displaced Ukrainian Artist Maria Plotnikova to install her paintings she has made since the war began and her now living with her partner in an artist residency in Spain. I have asked Alabama artist Jonathan Lanier, a current sculpture grad at SAIC to construct a 'community / parish news structure' that will house Maria's paintings. Tavin Davis, a Montana artist currently a grad in Painting and Drawing at SAIC will install his paintings above the war trauma images of Maria's in the top windows of my home.
